My prized possession – truly, my desert island piece of kitchen equipment – is my Vitamix. Yes, they’re pricey. However, I use it every single day and have been using it every day since I bought it in 2011. Seriously. Everyone who owns a Vitamix will say the same thing. It’s an amazing piece of equipment and you’ll never regret the purchase.
I’ve also heard good things about Blendtec, however it’s in the same price category as the Vitamix so why not just get a Vitamix? They do have terrific “Will It Blend” videos though, so you should check those out on YouTube for a bit of fun.
For a less expensive piece of equipment, you could try the Juice Ninja or, according to one of the videos I’ve posted below, the Breville is supposed to be quite good. I also have a cheap Magic Bullet that I like to take with me when I travel.
Here’s a great video comparing the Blendtec vs. the Vitamix vs. the Ninja. As you can see from the video, you do get what you pay for:
This is a really helpful video from America’s Test Kitchen. They compare a variety of blenders and they come up with the Breville as an economical option that still isn’t cheap ($200ish) but it’s still half the price of the Vitamix.
This orange test is what helped me to make my decision when I first bought my blender.
